"I came up with the title of my new album by creating a word that means a man drifting through with no real homeland... an Alabama Bastard, a misplaced and misunderstood man on a mission." -Austin Hanks
A singer-songwriter and a left-handed guitar player from the Foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of Alabama, Austin Hanks currently resides in southern California. His music has been described as "rockin" country soul: and "genuine juke and twang from the Deep Dirty South."
He has lived and worked in Nashville, toured and played shows with legends ZZ Top, Lynrd Skynryrd, Bad Company, Derek Trucks, Blues Traveler, Black Crowes, Trace Atkins, Widespread Panic and dozens more. He also wrote 6 songs used in the popular series
Sons of Anarchy on FX, plus wrote a single with Billy Gibbons for the ZZ Top record
La Futura, produced by Rick Rubin.
His latest album
"ALABASTARD" contains 13 new songs and features music legends: Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Rickey Medlocke of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimmy Hall of Jeff Beck and Wet Willie, Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty, Doug Pettibone of John Mayer, and many more world-renowned musicians.
It was produced by Grammy Award winner David Bianco, co-produced by Austin Hanks, and the executive producer was Billy Gibbons.
